We walk with your family for brief time on the long arc of your journey together. We seek to evolve capacities that not only address today’s concerns but empower your family to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

We call this approach: Walk beside. Leave behind.

OUR SERVICES

Every family faces its own adaptive challenges and the work we do is bespoke. With that in mind, we find that almost every family we work with is on a journey towards finding greater well-being. Much of this work is about discovering ways to reduce pockets of “suffering” and finding pathways of profound acceptance, peace and ease of action in the midst of extraordinarily complex situations. Some of this work involves shifting things in the observable world - governance structures, patterns of communication, leadership, and so on. Some of this work happens in invisible realms of the human psyche and the family culture. Here are some of the things we find ourselves doing with the client families as we walk with them in their journey.

Family Culture

  • Communication - facilitating experiences that help families communicate with greater compassion, clarity, and candor

  • Clarity -gaining a shared vision of common purpose in ways that support authentic attunement across the family (see note below)

  • Attunement - developing pathways that empower family members to work together to better realize their individual and collective well-being

  • Engagement - designing and hosting experiences that foster authentic engagement by all family members

  • Learning - gaining capabilities and skills that generate greater individual and collective capacity and resilience

  • Calming - uncovering ways to to calm family agitation and generate centered, focused action

  • Integration - helping individuals and families make peace with reality (sometimes it is about continuing and sometimes it is about ending well)

Governance

  • Structures - designing and implementing structures that support well-being

  • Protocols - collaboratively developing processes that can promote equity and equanimity

  • Roles - helping people find their place of appropriate contribution, power and influence

  • Mindsets - fostering the mind shifts, heart-space and embodied action that promotes well-being in self and others

  • Succession - working through generational transitions in ways that reduce both risk and strife

Leadership

  • Family - coaching family leaders through difficult challenges to lead with wisdom, compassion, and clarity

  • Parenting - helping parents raise adults who will be not only financially wealthy, but personally healthy and wise

  • Eldership - coaching elders in assuming their rightful role in ensuring family continuity

Inheritance

  • Agency - working with beneficiaries to build a sense of empowered and informed agency in their lives

  • Polarities - helping beneficiaries navigate the many personal and social conundrums and challenges of inheritance

  • Integration - helping beneficiaries find their own balance points in the long journey of living with inheritance

  • Evolution - helping the entire trustscape evolve into more enlightened approaches to inheriance that support beneficiaries well-being

If you have any questions about any of the items above, please be sure to bring them up in our conversation.

Note: Trying to “align” a family to be like a marching band is often unwelcome and counterproductive. Helping a family “attune” to each other - to be more like a jazz ensemble - can foster real well-being.
